Farrellys’ “Stuck” hilariously pairs humor, heart

Only a movie by the Farrelly brothers could a pair of Siamese twins triumph in the worlds of sports, acting and short-order cookery, cross paths with Cher and Meryl Streep, and teach a valuable lesson about personal support systems.

“Stuck on You” takes the best aspects of “There’s Something About Mary” and “Shallow Hal” and delivers a comedy that commands tears of laughter as well as misty-eyed appreciation. It’s a typical kitchen-sink project from the director-writer team of Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly – everything goes, and then some. But it’s through-line is as focused as its bottom line. You can’t beat the real deal when it comes to brotherly love.

The humor comes out of the imaginative way they handle life – and out of great supporting turns by the likes of Eva Mendez, Cher, Cassel, Streep and Terence Bernie Hines as Moe. “Stuck on You” is sure to hook a lot of fans.

The Farrelly’s script is painfully funny, but there’s no meanness to it. Bob and Walt are decent, lovable guys, and Damon and Kinnear play them with sincerity and heart.
